Secure your email account
Login to PowerTrade is done via a magic link that is sent to your registered email. Therefore, it stands to reason that any person with access to your email account also has access to your PowerTrade account and the funds contained therein.
Hence, it is vitally important that your email account is secured by following these best practices:
- NEVER share your email credentials with anyone
- Use unique, strong passwords. A password manager can help with this.
- Enable 2-factor Authentication (2FA) on your email account
- Set up your account recovery options
Set up a 4-digit PIN and Biometric Authentication
Upon your first log in to the PowerTrade app after installation, you will be asked to create a 4-digit PIN code. This PIN code will be required every time the app is launched. It is very important NOT to share this PIN code with anyone.
After you've created your PIN code, you can also choose to enable biometric unlocking using either a fingerprint or face ID (if your device supports it). This step is optional but is highly recommended.
Together, these features prevent unauthorized access to your account by other people with physical access to your device.
Enable 2FA on your PowerTrade account
2FA is not enabled on your PowerTrade account by default. You can enable this by tapping on the profile icon on the top right of the app's main screen followed by "Security" followed by "2-Factor Authentication". Then tap on the "Setup" button and follow the on-screen instructions. A more detailed guide can be found here.
Once 2FA has been set up on your account, certain sensitive actions in the app will require you to enter a One-Time Password (OTP) to complete. These actions are:
- Submitting a withdrawal request
- Adding a new approved withdrawal address
- Submitting a trade order
